About the role
We are seeking an experienced Security Operations Director to lead the strategic direction and day‑to‑day management of our global cybersecurity defensive operations. In this senior leadership role, you will ensure the effective functioning of all security monitoring, detection and routine response capabilities, maintaining a resilient security posture against an ever‑evolving threat landscape.
Your core objective will be to minimise organisational risk through comprehensive monitoring and rapid incident handling – delivered by a global team of cyber professionals.
This is a high‑impact opportunity that will allow you to lead key initiatives and continue to develop your career.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage a 24/7 hybrid Cyber SecOps team responsible for continuous security monitoring. Ensure timely triage of alerts and anomalies to drive rapid incident detection and response, minimising business risk and impact.
- Ensure seamless integration and handoff between third‑party providers and in‑house resources, delivering an end‑to‑end, high‑quality SecOps service.
- Oversee a comprehensive SecOps tooling suite, ensuring tools collect data from diverse systems, normalise/correlate information and identify suspicious or anomalous activity for investigation.
- Oversee the tuning of all SecOps tooling and drive the development of bespoke correlation rules and use cases aligned with business operations, internal risk profiles and current threat intelligence.
- Maximise automation and orchestration within day‑to‑day operations to ensure efficient analysis and response activities.
- Create, own and maintain a 3‑year strategic roadmap for Cyber SecOps, driving tactical and long‑term improvements in alignment with organisational goals.
Business Expertise
- You will bring deep knowledge of the cybersecurity landscape, including industry‑specific threats and compliance requirements. This role requires a strategic understanding of the business environment, regulatory landscape and competitor capabilities, with the ability to align cybersecurity initiatives to business objectives and risk‑management strategies.
Problem Solving
- This position demands innovative thinking and adaptability when tackling complex, evolving cybersecurity challenges. You will make high‑stakes decisions under pressure, balancing rapid response with thorough investigation, while navigating regulatory requirements, emerging technologies and the human factors in cybersecurity.
Impact & Influence
- Own the organisation’s Cyber Incident Response Process, ensuring all incident response actions and playbooks are comprehensive, regularly tested and aligned with business recovery objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior professionals across the cybersecurity field to support information sharing and collective defence.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the organisation at industry events and participate in relevant information‑sharing partnerships.
- Collaborate with internal investigation and remediation teams to address the full spectrum of security issues across the organisation.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Requirements
- Several years of experience in cybersecurity, with demonstrable experience responding to significant cyber incidents involving Organised Crime and Nation State threat actors.
- Experience working across international manufacturing and supply chain.
- Proven experience in managing a dispersed or geographically distributed team, with the ability to build strong collaboration and maintain high performance across locations.
- A strong focus on solutions rather than problems, with the ability to navigate challenges constructively and drive positive outcomes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritise tasks and balance competing deadlines while maintaining high‑quality delivery.
- Preferred Certifications: CISSP, GCIA, GCDA, GSOC, GCIH.
