Job summary

ASEL in Wakefield is seeking a Retail Security Officer to deter crime and protect store assets. You will perform access control, incident reporting, and CCTV reviews, working with the client and local authorities.

You must hold a current SIA Guarding or Door Supervisor licence, provide a 5-year history, and be prepared for a 42-hour, 4-on-4-off night pattern at £13 per hour. Training is provided where needed.

• Current SIA Guarding or SIA Door Supervisor licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible deterrence in-store and respond to incidents.
• Complete incident reports and liaise with local authorities.
• Carry out access control, reception duties and loss-prevention searches.
• Conduct internal/external patrols and review CCTV for stock loss investigations.
• Report incidents clearly and promptly to clients and authorities.

Main Responsibilities

We believe that the best approach to deterring criminal activity is to understand the vulnerabilities and risk of each location, and bespoke our approach to effectively reduce risk. As a Retail Security Officer, you will be required to provide a visible deterrence, respond to incidents, complete incident reports and collaborate with the local authorities.

You will be expected to carry out all guarding responsibilities whilst in store, such as;

• Access Control - Gatehouse and Reception duties; welcoming, helping and directing those who seek your assistance, identifying any threat to security and escalating appropriately.
• Loss Prevention - Performing colleague and contractor searches when required in line with the Client’s Company policy
• Internal and external site patrols to deter criminal activity
• Working collaboratively with our Client to identify risk and review CCTV recordings as part of stock loss investigations
• Liaising with management and local authorities when applicable
• Digitally report incidents and use tablets/phones for daily activity planning
• Detailed and Legible incident reporting to assist the Client and Local Authorities
• Adheres to company policy in relation to Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities and complies with all policies and procedures as laid out in the current company handbook.

Hourly Rate: £13.00

The Person

To be an effective Security Officer, you will need to be a confident communicator as you will be required to provide detailed verbal and written accounts of criminal activity. You will need to be welcoming and patient with customers, and able to handle conflict in a professional manner.

Required Experience and Qualification

You must have a valid SIA licence to apply for this role. Previous experience of working in a Retail Security Role is an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.
