Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a vigilant Security Officer to join our team at Jackton Police College, providing 24-hour cover on a shift rota that includes days, nights, weekends and public holidays. You will protect people, property and assets while delivering a professional, approachable service to staff and visitors.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid SIA licence, have the Right to Work in the UK and be able to pass BS7858 vetting, with strong communication and customer service skills

Qualifications

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK and ability to pass BS7858 vetting.
• Valid SIA Licence.
• Previous experience in a security role.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Controlling access and egress to the site, ensuring only authorised personnel and visitors are permitted entry.
• Conducting security patrols of buildings, grounds, and car parks to identify and report security risks, hazards, or suspicious activity.
• Monitoring CCTV, alarm systems, and other security equipment to detect and respond to incidents promptly.
• Maintaining accurate records of visitors, contractors, incidents, and daily security activities.
• Responding to emergencies, including fire alarms, security breaches, and incidents requiring immediate action.
• Providing a visible security presence and assisting with site security requirements.
• Ensuring keys, access cards, and other security assets are controlled and accounted for in accordance with site procedures.
• Challenging unauthorised persons and reporting any suspicious behaviour in line with security protocols.
• Liaising with police officers, staff, contractors, and emergency services when required.
• Adhering to all company policies, site instructions, and legal requirements, including data protection and confidentiality obligations.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK and ability to pass BS7858 vetting.
• Valid SIA Licence
• Previous experience in a security role
• Strong communication and customer service skills
