Overview

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust are seeking mature, honest, enthusiastic, hardworking and committed individuals, who are able to work in a team and as an individual on own initiative. You will be complementing existing security teams across the University Hospital Trust. This will be predominantly based across the Princess Royal and the Royal Sussex County Hospital. On occasion may be required to perform duties within all premises in University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

Responsibilities

You must be capable of protecting staff, patients and visitors and dealing with untoward incidents. Some control room duties will be required. You will come into contact with difficult, aggressive and sometimes violent individuals as well as patients and visitors. You will be given formal training in Conflict management & Physical Intervention Techniques. A degree of physical and mental robustness is required.

Benefits/Pay

In addition to the base rate of pay, this role attracts enhancements of approximately £3000 to £4000 per year for night and weekend work.

Eligibility

Please note: This role does not meet the minimum criteria for visa sponsorship under the current UK immigration rules. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.

Essential requirements: good communication skills, good understanding of written and spoken English, staying calm under pressure and being able to sustain lengthy periods of concentration. Full training will be provided; experience in Healthcare or Higher Education Security is advantageous. Desirable: full clean Category B driving license (preferably 2 years).

Hours: 37.5 hour week pro rata; rostered duties include 12-hour shifts at weekends, nights and bank holidays.
