A recruitment firm specialized in infrastructure is seeking a Security Design Manager in Birmingham. This hybrid role focuses on assuring security designs for transport infrastructure. The ideal candidate has experience in critical national infrastructure and must understand security principles, physical security systems, and risk assessment. Candidates will need to undergo UK Security Clearance as part of the appointment process.
Salary: 54-58,000 (Birmingham) 58-62,500 (London) plus 12% Pension
I’m supporting my client on a nationally significant transport programme, seeking a Security Design Manager focused on the route-wide assets of the project. This includes assurance of security designs for elements such as track, tunnels, bridges and compounds, working with the supply chain to ensure compliance and integration across the network.
You’ll act as the key interface between the client’s Technical Services Directorate and the delivery teams, reviewing and assuring security design deliverables. The role combines technical understanding with the ability to work across multiple disciplines, ensuring that security principles are embedded in the design from concept through to operation.
Experience in critical national infrastructure is important, together with knowledge of the Department for Transport’s Security in the Design of Stations guidance, physical security systems, blast mitigation and hostile vehicle mitigation. You’ll be comfortable assessing design submissions, identifying risks and engaging with stakeholders such as DfT Land Security, CPNI and the British Transport Police.
We’re looking for someone with experience gained in major infrastructure or safety-critical sectors such as rail, aviation or defence, ideally with a background in security design assurance.
Your background could come from a key infrastructure sector, military, police or consultancy, it is about overseeing the assurance of the works to the standards, rather than carrying out design, therefore I'm keen to talk to Security Assurance Engineers, Security and Continuity Planning Specialists and all those associated with physical security assets. ( this is not a IT or Cyber Security role ).
The successful candidate will be required to undergo UK Security Clearance (SC) as part of the appointment process. This is a hybrid role, with 3 days based out of the offices or sites in the Birmingham or London region.
