Job description
Security Design Manager

Location: London or Birmingham (Hybrid Working). Salary: £45-£60k + package.

We're working with a leading organisation delivering one of the UK's most complex and high‑profile major infrastructure programmes, and we are seeking an experienced Security Design Manager to join the Technical Services team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate security design assurance across multiple workstreams and design partners.
  • Review and approve design deliverables, ensuring compliance with relevant UK legislation, standards and guidance.
  • Implement and advise on HMG standards, including Security in the Design of Stations and related best practice.
  • Provide security input to risk assessments, hazard logs and safety assurance processes.
  • Develop and present security design proposals at steering and design panels.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering, safety and operations teams.
  • Drive a consistent, proportionate and risk‑based approach to security across complex infrastructure environments.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Degree‑qualified in Security, Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong understanding of security design assurance, physical security, blast mitigation, and hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) principles.
  • Experience delivering security assurance in major infrastructure, defence, transport, or other safety‑critical environments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple design interfaces and stakeholders within complex projects.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, capable of engaging at senior level.
  • Practical knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks and security assurance processes.
