Job summary

Sanderson Government and Defence is seeking a Technical Cyber Security Architect for a remote-based role in the UK with occasional travel. The position focuses on secure design across projects, alignment with standards, and cloud security for private/public deployments.

You will drive threat modelling, risk analysis, and architecture artefacts, working within a leading cyber consultancy. The ideal candidate has extensive experience as a Security Architect, solid knowledge of GDPR/PCI DSS/ICO,

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Security Architect or in a technical cyber role.
• Expertise in GDPR, PCI DSS, and ICO.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls v8.
• Familiarity with HMG/NCSC policies and guidance.
• Experience in cloud security (AWS, Azure).
• Understanding of microservice architectures.
• Proficient in PKI, cryptography, and privileged access management.
• Security certifications: SABSA, TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architect, CISSP, CISM (or working towards registration).
• Strong analytical thinking, communication, teamwork, and adaptability skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide secure design advice from project discovery through to disposal.
• Ensure solutions align with security standards and architectural patterns.
• Promote Secure by Design principles to reduce information risk.
• Validate security controls and their effectiveness.
• Deliver security architecture for cloud deployments (private/public).
• Design and scope IT Health Checks and interpret outcomes.
• Identify and mitigate security risks in solution architectures.
• Conduct threat modelling and risk analysis.
• Design proportional security controls using native cloud technologies.
• Produce security architecture artefacts including standards and blueprints.

Salary: £85,000 - 85,000 per year
