Job description

Security Architect | 6 Month Contract | Defence Client | SC Clearance Required | Up to £800 per day (Outside IR35) | Andover (1-2 days per week on-site)

MERITUS are working with an expanding Defence Consultancy working with a UK Defence client based in Andover. We're looking for an experienced Security Architect with a strong background in UK Defence - ideally with hands-on experience working on Army systems or programmes.

The role involves both security and solution architecture, so it suits someone confident working across technical and operational teams. Frontline experience or exposure to Army systems would be a real advantage, as this work is closely aligned with how those systems are used in practice.

Candidates must hold an active SC Clearance.

Main Responsibilities

Lead detailed security architecture reviews across Army delivery areas, identifying risks and recommending practical design improvements.

Produce clear, high-quality architecture documentation and models using Sparx Enterprise Architect, ArchiMate, and NAFv4.

Create and maintain technology management plans, including configuration, cryptography, and assurance processes.

Work closely with security, architecture, and delivery stakeholders to ensure security is embedded across all system designs.

Required Skills

Strong UK Defence background, ideally with experience on Army programmes or systems.

Proven expertise in security architecture, covering IAM, secure integration, and Defence standards.

Skilled in Sparx Enterprise Architect with practical experience in model-driven design and traceability.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
