Role Overview

Security & Car Parking Officer – Part Time – 34.14 hours per week

Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert, Scotland

Salary – Agenda for Change Band 3 Spine point 1

Shift pattern – 5-week rota: Day Shift / Back Shift / Night Shift rotation

Main Accountabilities
  • Provide a security presence throughout all areas of the hospital
  • Deliver a polite, efficient and compassionate service to patients, visitors and staff
  • Provide a secure and safe Car parking presence in the hospital to deliver a polite, efficient and compassionate service to patients, visitors and staff always in compliance with the NHS and Serco car parking policy
  • Assist in search and recovery of missing patients using CCTV, which requires high levels of concentration and working as part of a team. This can also include searching grounds and liaising with emergency services and returning patient to department if able to do so
  • Issuing keys to authorised personnel, where appropriate and ensure that all signing in and out sheets are completed and maintained
  • Provide a first line response to violent and aggressive persons within the hospital, and where necessary restraining and escorting persons from site to maintain a safe environment within the hospital
  • Managing the car parks on a day-to-day basis, in line with NHS Forth Valleys car park policy, thus ensuring clear access is maintained for emergency services, infringements of NHS Forth Valley car park policy are dealt with and reported in the appropriate way
  • Monitor and report critical and medical alarms and alert relevant staff to emergency situations as required
  • Monitor security systems installed within the control room and alert colleagues to situations as required following CCTV procedures. Responsible for the safe use of CCTV monitoring equipment across the site, following data protection laws, legislation and procedures
  • Collection and depositing of valuables and belongings of patients as instructed for safekeeping. This can include large amounts of money and other valuable property
  • Accept lost property for safe keeping, maintaining a register of lost and found property and correctly entering property into security safe
  • Communicate effectively with hospital personnel and outside agencies such that information is given and received accurately
  • Undertake internal and external patrols of the hospital site, in line with schedule to maintain a secure environment, checking closed departments, wards, corridors and high-risk areas of the site
  • Participate as a full member of the team, e.g. supporting and training other staff, participating in team meetings, working flexibly as required to cover other members of the team
  • Report any Health and Safety hazards around the site as per procedures
  • Respond to fire alarms following procedure and assisting Fire Service and Estates Department where necessary. Provide reports of all fire incidents
