About the Role

Our client, a well-established and reputable law firm based in Reading, is seeking an experienced Secretary to join their busy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills and a professional approach to support teams across criminal, prison, and family law.

In this varied role, you will also share reception and front-of-house responsibilities, ensuring a high standard of service for clients and visitors.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a secretary or administrator role (legal experience advantageous)

  • Strong audio typing skills using digital dictation software

  • Excellent IT proficiency, including familiarity with case management systems

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload

  • Confidence working with a diverse client base

  • High levels of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality

  • A flexible and proactive approach to work

Duties & Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Audio typing of correspondence and legal documents

  • Managing diaries, key dates, and appointments

  • Organising prison visits

  • Handling general administrative tasks and incoming correspondence

  • Supporting shared reception duties when required

  • Preparing and correlating legal documents and bundles

  • Answering incoming calls and directing enquiries

  • Taking new client instructions
