We are currently recruiting for a Secondary Teaching Assistant for a vibrant secondary school in Solihull (B90), starting January 2025. The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant to support students across a variety of subjects in a fast‑paced secondary school setting. As a teaching assistant, you will work with small groups, provide one‑to‑one support, and assist teachers in delivering lessons while helping students overcome any academic or personal challenges they may face. You will play an important role in helping students reach their full potential, both academically and personally, and contribute to a positive and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects, including Maths, English, Science, and Humanities.
  • Provide support to individual students or small groups, helping them to complete tasks and understand lesson content.
  • Offer one‑to‑one assistance to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or other additional support needs.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, providing guidance and encouragement where needed.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Monitor student progress and assist with assessments when required.
  • Provide administrative support to teachers, such as setting up resources, managing classroom displays, or preparing teaching materials.
  • Assist with behaviour management, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Support students in developing independent learning skills and encourage their personal growth.
Key Requirements
  • Experience working with young people in an educational setting, preferably in secondary schools.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of the secondary school curriculum and the needs of students across different subjects.
  • Passion for supporting students to achieve their best and develop both academically and socially.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is advantageous but not a requirement.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
