Qualifications

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant – Oldham

Location: Oldham
Pay: Competitive, based on experience
Contract: Full-time

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in the Oldham area. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to students with additional needs. The children you will be supporting have a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, Speech, Language and Communication needs, Sensory processing difficulties and challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning needs.
  2. Assist teachers in differentiating lessons for pupils with SEN.
  3. Support students with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
  4. Help implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) effectively.
  5. Promote inclusive learning environments and encourage student engagement.
  6. Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the SENCO and teaching staff.
  7. Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic support.
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting students with SEN in a school setting.
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • At least two employment references covering the last 24 months.
  • Safeguarding training (provided by Teaching Personnel).
