Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate Secondary Class Teacher to inspire students across KS3, KS4 and KS5 in Sunderland. You will plan, deliver and assess lessons aligned with the national curriculum.

The role is full-time and temporary with potential to become permanent, starting September 2026. You must hold QTS (and PGCE or equivalent) and have experience in a secondary school, with strong classroom management and safeguarding commitment.

Qualifications

• QTS is essential for eligibility to teach in UK schools.
• A recognised PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification is required.
• Previous experience teaching within a secondary school setting.
• Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate, inspire and engage students of varying abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Right to work in the UK and eligibility to work in the country.
• Enhanced DBS certificate on Update Service or willingness to process a new application.
• Professional teaching references covering the last two years.

Responsibilities

• Teach students aged 11-19 across KS3, KS4 and KS5.

We are recruiting on behalf of secondary schools across Sunderland seeking enthusiastic and motivated teachers to join their teams from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire young people, deliver engaging lessons, and help students achieve their academic potential across KS3, KS4 and KS5.

About the Role

• Teaching students aged 11-19 across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
• Planning, preparing and delivering high-quality lessons in line with the national curriculum.

• Assessing, monitoring and recording students' progress and attainment.

Pay, Hours and Contract

• Pay: £160 - £200 per day (depending on experience and responsibilities)
