Job summary

A progressive educational institution in Reading is seeking a motivated Teacher of English to engage students across Key Stages 3 and 4. Overview

A motivated and passionate Teacher of English is required to join a progressive and supportive educational setting. The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, contribute to curriculum development, and support students in achieving their full potential both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Support the subject leader in developing the English curriculum.
  • Uphold the school’s behaviour management systems to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Monitor and support the progress and development of students within the subject.
  • Incorporate the Self-Directed Learning philosophy into lesson planning and delivery.
  • Mentor students in either the Lower or Upper school.
  • Provide opportunities for learning beyond the classroom, including enrichment activities.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the leadership team.
General Duties
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the wider vision of the school.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
  • Adhere to all school policies, including those related to health & safety and data protection.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and performance appraisal.
Safeguarding Commitment

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check with appropriate barred list checks, or the equivalent. They must demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
