Daily Pay: £89.38 (£13.75 per hour)

Do you have experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you resilient, adaptable, and passionate about helping secondary‑aged pupils re‑engage with their education?

We're seeking a Secondary Behaviour Support Assistant to work across schools in Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT), supporting pupils who require additional guidance with behaviour, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement. This role is not based in a PRU, but within mainstream and alternative secondary settings.

The Role:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping pupils aged 11-16 overcome barriers to learning. You will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
  • Use calm, consistent de‑escalation strategies to manage incidents safely and effectively
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage emotional regulation and engagement
  • Support pupils both in class and through targeted interventions outside of lessons
  • Liaise closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SENCOs to deliver individual support plans
About You:
  • Has experience supporting young people with behavioural or emotional needs (essential)
  • Can drive and is comfortable travelling between schools across RCT (essential)
  • Remains calm, confident, and professional in challenging situations
  • Is proactive, patient, and committed to helping students achieve their potential
  • Brings transferable experience from youth work, residential care, sports coaching, or similar roles

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
  • Two recent professional references
