Job summary

Heatree Activity Centre is seeking a Seasonal Outdoor Education Instructor to lead engaging outdoor adventures for young people. You will work with our team of instructors at Heatree, Manaton, delivering sessions and supporting the Centre’s mission.

Responsibilities include hosting groups at weekends/holidays, assisting with equipment and maintenance, and upholding the Centre’s Christian ethos and ministry while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering outdoor activities.
• Experience working with children and young people.
• Ideally holds a qualification in climbing, walking leadership or paddlesport (e.g. CWI, RCI, ERCA, Lowland Leader Award, Paddlesport Instructor, GNAS or mountain biking).
• Own transport due to rural location.

Main Responsibilities

• To deliver exciting, well-planned activity sessions as part of the Centre’s Outdoor Education programme
• To contribute to the development of the outdoor programme, supporting the Charity’s vision to help young people encounter God through adventure
• To host groups at weekends and during school holidays as required
• To assist with equipment checks, upkeep, and wider site maintenance
• To engage with and support the Christian ethos and ministry of the Centre
• To support Centre administration and contribute to the smooth day‑to‑day running of the Centre

Qualifications / Requirements

Ideal candidates will:

• Be experienced in delivering outdoor activities
• Be experienced in working with children and young people
• Ideally hold a qualification in climbing, walking leadership or paddlesport, e.g. CWI, RCI, ERCA, Lowland Leader Award, Paddlesport Instructor, GNAS or mountain biking
• Have strong initiative, and be reliable and punctual
• Have good leadership and group communication skills
• Have their own transport due to rural location (potential for on-site rented accommodation)
• Be aged 18 years or over
• Be a positive Christian role model for both guests and staff
