Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester seeks a dynamic registered practitioner (Nurse or ODP) to join a core multidisciplinary surgical team across specialties including Breast, General, Urology and more. In-house training and a strong Preceptorship Programme support your development.

Newly qualified nurses and ODPs are encouraged to apply, with opportunities for ongoing professional growth and support from Clinical Educators and PBEs.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner registered with the NMC.
• Scrub skills with peri-operative care experience.
• Ability to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience supervising and supporting junior staff.
• Evidence of teaching and assessing skills/ability.
• Awareness of clinical audit.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to problem-solve and make decisions.
• Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks.
• Dexterity and accuracy in physical skills.
• Knowledge of current nursing issues and clinical governance.
• IT/Word Processing skills.

Responsabilités

• Develop to become an autonomous practitioner across specialties with indirect senior staff support.
• Rotate through theatres across Breast, General, Urology, robotic surgery, ENT, Maxillofacial, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Paediatrics.
• Plan daily surgical activity regarding equipment and patient care.
• Provide peri-operative care following a structured process addressing patient needs.
• Maintain sterile fields and minimise infection risks.
• Account for swabs, needles, instrumentation and other equipment.
• Labelling and transportation of specimens.
• Support scrubbed practitioner as circulator.
• Identify and pursue educational development and annual appraisal.
