The Ops Scientist I works cross-functionally on a variety of assignments to improve on-market product reliability, focusing on biosensor and/or reagents processes. The role involves entry-level professional laboratory work requiring application of general and specialized methods, techniques, and instruments. The ideal candidate would have a degree in biomedical engineering, industrial engineering, chemistry, biophysics, or materials science. Must be able to work in a highly regulated field with attention to detailed documentation, regulatory compliance, and quality. Experience working with blood and proficiency in statistical methods are preferred.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

Essential Functions:

  • Performs various laboratory procedures and experiments, communicating results, problems, and progress to the supervisor.
  • Schedules activities according to assignments and priorities; detects problems caused by instrument difficulties or reagent handling.
  • Understands correct operating procedures for laboratory instruments.
  • Obtains data, performs calculations, collates results, and prepares reports; maintains accurate laboratory notebooks.
  • As experience develops, may perform a broader range of experiments, tests, and procedures, selecting standard methods and analyzing results.
  • Understands experimental design and can detect deviations or potential problems.
  • Selects appropriate methods, defines protocols, and schedules tasks.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Networking/Key Relationships:

  • Contacts are mainly with immediate supervisor and other professionals within the group.
  • Developing ability to share and present findings at internal meetings.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree.
