Job description

Scientist – Functional Genomics / CRISPR Screening // Oxford

You are a hands-on scientist with experience applying CRISPR in biologically meaningful systems. You enjoy being in the lab, building assays, troubleshooting experiments, and generating data that actually drives decisions.

We are partnering with an exciting Oxford-based biotech combining human genetics, functional genomics, and drug discovery to unlock novel targets hidden in the non-coding genome. Their work sits at the intersection of cutting‑edge science and real therapeutic impact, with strong momentum across multiple programmes.

This role sits at the centre of that effort; building screening capability that enables the progression of new targets into the pipeline.

THE ROLE

As a Scientist in Functional Genomics, you will be responsible for developing and running CRISPR-based assays to interrogate gene function across immune‑relevant systems. This is a highly hands‑on role, focused on execution, iteration, and impact.

You will act as a key bridge between genomics and drug discovery teams, generating data that helps define what comes next. As a result you will have the opportunity to grow scientifically in a fast pace high impact environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Design, optimise and execute CRISPR-based screening assays
  • Work across primary immune cell systems and complex co-culture models
  • Run and analyse multi‑gene screening experiments (20–40+ targets)
ABOUT YOU
  • Background in functional genomics, immunology, or related field
  • Hands‑on experience with CRISPR (application is more important than deep technical specialisation)
  • Experience working with immune cell assays (T cells and beyond advantageous)
  • Ideally experience from biotech, pharma, or CRO environments (Evotec, Charles River etc.)
LOGISTICS
  • Location: Oxford (on‑site)
  • Employment: Permanent

If you’re excited by building assays that directly shape a novel drug discovery pipeline, apply now.
