Scientist (Analytical Chemistry) - Onsite, Cambridge UK

As a Scientist (Analytical Chemistry) at Illumina you will work in our labs to prepare and analyse samples, conduct experiments and develop methods on Illumina instruments.

This is an onsite position to be based out Europe Head Office in Cambridge, UK. The suitable candidate will have a BSc within a relevant subject such as Chemistry, or Biochemistry, with some lab based experience within industry being preferred. Full training will be provided however basic lab skills are essential for the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and analysis of samples
  • Developing analytical methods to characterize and quality control existing materials & processes
  • Analytical method verification, validation & transfer from R&D to UK manufacturing
  • Maintaining analytical equipment and operating procedures
  • Written and verbal communication of plans, procedures and results
Qualifications
  • Degree in chemical sciences or equivalent subject
  • Some industrial analytical chemistry experience would be an advantage
  • Expertise with HPLC and LC-MS is desireable
  • Experience using Agilent OpenLab HPLC software would be an advantage
  • Strong theoretical and practical analytical chemistry skills
  • Ability to work as part of a highly efficient, collaborative team
  • Self-motivated and able to produce results to a deadline
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
