About the role
Responsibilities
  • Perform manual and automated diagnostic testing
  • Perform all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for pathological diagnosis including specimen dissection
  • Assist with stock control
  • Maintain records and record results in line with protocols
  • Maintain all equipment and operate equipment in line with protocols
  • Maintain current scientific knowledge
  • Participate in both routine and audit related quality assurance activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
  • Train staff
  • Liaise with internal and/or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary
  • Comply and adhere to policies and procedures, workplace health and safety procedures and quality assurance processes
About you
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline
  • Sound knowledge of QC QAP and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
  • Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
  • An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
  • A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive contributing team member
  • Strong time management interpersonal communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
  • Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases
