Job summary

You will work with scientific and technical teams to develop software, connect large-scale datasets, and integrate new weather models with legacy systems to improve forecasting capabilities.

Scientific Software Engineer – Python / GIS / Linux

We are looking for 2 Scientific Software Engineers to join an exciting 12-month contract, supporting the development of next-generation weather and climate forecasting systems.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge scientific technology, helping integrate new weather and climate simulation models into critical forecasting systems.

The Role:

You will work alongside scientific and technical teams to develop specialist software, connect large-scale datasets and support the integration of new weather models with existing legacy systems.

Your work will directly contribute to improving forecasting capabilities and supporting the next generation of weather and climate science.

• Duration: 12 months
• IR35: Inside
• Location: Exeter
• Working pattern: 60% attendance per month, approximately 2–3 visits
• Security Clearance: SC required
