Schedule: Monday – Friday roster with morning and afternoon shifts, plus rotating Saturday roster.

About the role

We are seeking a Part‑Time Scientific Officer to join our team at the Tamworth Laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform manual and automated diagnostic testing.
  • Carry out routine procedures from specimen reception to results execution, including specimen dissection.
  • Assist with stock control and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain equipment and perform routine quality assurance activities.
  • Keep current scientific knowledge and contribute to assay development.
  • Participate in staff training and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, WH&S, and quality assurance processes.
About you

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Biomedical Science or Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
  • NOOSR or AIMS certification if qualification is from outside Australia.
  • Experience in Haematology and Biochemistry desirable; training will be provided.
  • Availability for morning, afternoon and rotating weekend shifts.
  • Strong communication skills, self‑motivation, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Professional attitude toward confidentiality and WH&S compliance.
