Qualifications

  • Minimum of GCSE or equivalent qualification level.
  • Experience of maintaining aseptic technique & tissue culturing skills.
  • Knowledge of equipment & instrument calibration.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized and motivated with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control temperature units in laboratories.
  • Liaise with Equipment Engineering team for servicing and repairs.
  • Support equipment maintenance and service contracts.
  • Calibrate analytical equipment as per schedules.
  • Raise quality records including deviations and CAPA.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Operate an autoclave and dispose of waste appropriately.
  • Lead the ASG pipette clinic and troubleshoot issues.
  • Oversee quality of stock consumables.

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Scientific Assistant II to join the Quality Control (QC) team. In this role, you will provide essential laboratory activities and services to support the QC department, playing a key part in advancing our mission and making a real difference. OXB is a quality and innovation‑led viral vector CDMO with a mission to enable its clients to deliver life‑changing therapies to patients around the world. One of the original pioneers in cell and gene therapy, we have more than 30 years of experience in viral vectors; the driving force behind the majority of gene therapies. OXB collaborates with some of the world's most innovative pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, providing viral vector development and manufacturing expertise in lentivirus, adeno‑associated virus (AAV) and adenoviral vectors. OXB's world‑class capabilities span from early‑stage development to commercialisation. These capabilities are supported by robust quality‑assurance systems, analytical methods, and depth of regulatory expertise.

Responsibilities
  • The monitoring and controlling of temperature units within highly regulated laboratories.
  • To liaise and work with Equipment Engineering team and external engineers to organise equipment servicing and equipment repair.
  • Provide support for equipment maintenance including equipment files and service contracts.
  • To calibrate key analytical equipment as per calibration schedules.
  • To raise quality records including deviation, CAPA and change control.
  • To clean and maintain the laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • To operate an autoclave and dispose of waste materials.
  • To lead the ASG pipette clinic including liaising with the calibration team and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee, maintain, and ensure the quality of key stock consumables.
Qualifications
  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE or equivalent qualification level or able to demonstrate required skills gained within another workplace.
  • Experience of maintaining aseptic technique & tissue culturing skills.
  • Knowledge of equipment & instrument calibration.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Highly organised and motivated with excellent attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel & Outlook.
