£90-£110 p/day dependent on experience.

About our School

Tradewind Secondary continues to support one of the leading Secondary schools in the area and are looking to recruit Lab technicians to work on a full time, temp to permanent basis in St Albans. The school offers a great Science team, supportive colleagues as well as routes into teacher training in the future.

The Role

As a Lab Technician you will play a key role in supporting the smooth and safe delivery of practical science lessons in a local Secondary school. Working closely with teaching staff you'll be required to prepare and maintain equipment, set up experiments, take stock and ensure that all materials are ready for engaging and hands‑on learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and set up scientific apparatus and materials for lessons.
  • Clear down and sanitise equipment following practicals.
  • Manage stock levels, including Hazardous materials.
  • Maintain and organise laboratories and equipment, ensuring a safe working environment for students.
  • Follow health and safety and COSHH procedures.
  • Assist with risk assessments where required.
  • Manage stock levels, order supplies and keep records up to date.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to both staff and students where needed.

  • A passion for science and education whilst being able to demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • A proactive and supportive team player.
  • Relevant laboratory experience or a background in science (e.g., A-Levels, BTEC, or degree).
  • Previous experience in a lab or school / educational setting is desirable but not essential.
