Science Technician - Independent School (Tunbridge Wells Area)
  • Part-Time - 21 Hours per Week
  • Start Date: January 2026

A well-regarded independent school in the Tunbridge Wells area is seeking a skilled and organised Science Technician to join their Science Department on a part-time basis from January. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to support high-quality teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, set up and clear away equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons.
  • Ensure laboratories and prep rooms are maintained to a high standard of safety, cleanliness and organisation.
  • Support teachers with demonstrations and experiments, including the safe handling and storage of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels of materials and order replacements when required.
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of all relevant health and safety procedures, including risk assessments.
  • Provide general technical support to teaching staff across the Science Department.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or a strong scientific background (school, laboratory, or industry).
  • Good understanding of laboratory health and safety practices (CLEAPSS knowledge beneficial).
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, flexible and supportive approach to working within a team.
  • Confidence working across all science disciplines at secondary level.
Role Details:
  • Start Date: January
  • Hours: 21 hours per week (part-time)
  • Contract: Ongoing / long-term, with potential for extension
  • Location: Tunbridge Wells area
