Job description

  • Science Teacher wanted for a supportive secondary school in Luton

  • Teach within a department focused on scientific understanding and student progress

  • Suitable for experienced Science Teachers, ECTs and appropriately qualified overseas applicants

Our client is looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a secondary school in Luton. The school is seeking an educator who can deliver high-quality lessons, encourage scientific curiosity and help students develop the knowledge and practical skills necessary for success across the Science curriculum.

This position provides an opportunity to teach Science across the relevant key stages, introducing students to important concepts in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The successful candidate will be able to explain complex ideas clearly, break down challenging topics into manageable stages and use appropriate teaching approaches to support students with differing abilities.

The school is particularly interested in teachers who can create a classroom atmosphere in which students are encouraged to ask questions, participate in investigations and take responsibility for their learning. You will use a range of approaches, including demonstrations, written activities, structured questioning and practical tasks, to develop students' understanding.

As part of the Science department, you will contribute to curriculum delivery, assessment and the sharing of effective resources. You will also support students in developing the scientific vocabulary, analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities that are essential for continued progress.

The School Environment

Based in Luton, the school aims to provide an inclusive and ambitious learning environment where students are supported to achieve their best. Staff are expected to maintain clear expectations, establish positive relationships and deliver lessons that are purposeful, accessible and appropriately challenging.

The Science curriculum offers students the opportunity to explore the natural world, investigate how materials behave and understand the physical principles that influence everyday life. The department aims to help learners develop both subject knowledge and the ability to apply scientific understanding in unfamiliar contexts.

The successful applicant will work alongside colleagues who share responsibility for maintaining curriculum standards and supporting students' progress. A willingness to reflect on teaching, respond to assessment evidence and contribute to departmental improvement will be beneficial.
