About the Role

Aspire People is excited to support the recruitment of a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher for a specialist SEMH school in Redditch. This is a temporary position until the end of the academic year, offering the opportunity to work with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a supportive and innovative learning environment.

As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated lessons in science that cater to the individual learning needs of students. You will have the opportunity to inspire students through practical and theoretical science, while also supporting their emotional and social development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging science lessons for students with SEMH, ensuring the content is accessible and differentiated.
  • Foster curiosity and a love of learning through practical experiments, discussions, and interactive teaching methods.
  • Support students' social, emotional, and mental health development by using science as a tool to build confidence, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with other staff, including SENCO, to ensure the needs of all students are met within the science curriculum.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to help them succeed.
  • Promote positive behaviour and learning attitudes in the classroom, encouraging students to take responsibility for their learning and personal development.
About You
  • Qualified Science Teacher with QTS (or equivalent) and a passion for working with students who have SEMH needs.
  • Experience teaching science in a secondary school setting, preferably with students with SEMH or special educational needs.
  • A strong understanding of how science can be used to support both academic and social/emotional development.
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to build strong, positive relationships with students who may face emotional or behavioural challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • A commitment to providing an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students.
