Job description

  • Science Teacher required for a January start.

  • Mixed secondary school based in Manchester.

A secondary school in Manchester is seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join its teaching team from January. The school is looking for an enthusiastic practitioner who can inspire students to engage with scientific ideas, develop practical skills and make progress across the Science curriculum.

The successful candidate will teach Science across KS3 and KS4, delivering lessons in line with the school's curriculum and examination requirements. You will help students develop secure knowledge in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, while encouraging them to ask questions, interpret evidence and apply scientific principles to real-world problems.

The role requires someone who can plan purposeful lessons, use a variety of teaching approaches and create a classroom environment where pupils feel supported and challenged. You will assess understanding throughout lessons, provide clear feedback and use the information gathered to adapt teaching. Supporting GCSE classes with revision, examination practice and targeted intervention will also form part of the role where appropriate.

The school recognises that successful Science teaching depends on both strong subject knowledge and the ability to build positive relationships. You should therefore be confident in managing behaviour, communicating expectations and adapting activities to support students with a wide range of needs and prior attainment.

The successful teacher will work with departmental colleagues to share resources, plan learning sequences and maintain consistent standards. Applications are welcomed from experienced practitioners and ECTs who are enthusiastic about developing their career.
