Overview

About the Role:

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to join a secondary school in the Southport area in January 2026. As one of the fastest growing agencies in the UK, we are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic educator with a speciality in Physics, Biology, or Chemistry to inspire and nurture the next generation of scientists. A successful applicant will have a teaching qualification with QTS.

Secondary Science Teacher

Location: Southport, PR9

Start Date: January 2026

Contract Type: Temporary, Long Term

Working Hours: Full time, 8:00am - 4.00pm

Salary: Paid to scale

Responsibilities
  • Play a key role in shaping students' understanding of scientific concepts
  • Creating engaging hands-on activities to demonstrate scientific principles.
  • Assessing students' progress through assignments
  • Adapt teaching techniques to individuals to help them grasp complex topics
  • Ensure safety in the classroom which includes proper handling of equipment.
  • Managing classroom behaviour to create a positive learning
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Physics, Biology, or Chemistry.
  • Proven experience teaching in a UK secondary school.
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential as training can be provided).
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
  • Ability to provide two professional references.
