Job description

Science Teacher for a secondary school in Derby. Position: Full time, starting ASAP. It might turn into a permanent position for the right candidate. Hours: 8.30-16.00 term time only. Start date: ASAP.

Qualifications: QTS Science teacher or equivalent qualification with experience working in secondary school and strong behaviour management. Pay: dependent on qualifications and experience.

About the Role

We are excited to announce the opening of a full-time, long-term position for an experienced Science Teacher to join an exceptional Science Department at a brilliant secondary school in Derby.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver dynamic and engaging science lessons to secondary school students, encouraging students to explore and understand scientific concepts, fostering curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans, assessments, and teaching materials in line with the curriculum, tailoring instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Create an enriching and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students are motivated to participate actively in their scientific journey, supporting students in developing strong scientific skills and knowledge.
  • Regularly assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and parents, collaborating with colleagues to analyse data and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Work closely with the Science Department to enhance the overall quality of science education, sharing best practices and innovative teaching techniques with colleagues.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory. The school will consider ECT, PGCE and FE instructors for this position.
  • A degree in a relevant science field.
  • Proven experience as a Science Teacher in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for science.
  • Exceptional communication skills and classroom management abilities.
  • Dedication to nurturing students' academic growth and scientific curiosity.
