Job summary

Grass Roots Academic Support seeks an enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a successful secondary school in Essex. This maternity cover will teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the Teachers Main/Upper Pay Scale to be discussed, starting January 2027.

Applicants must have QTS, experience in secondary Science, and a strong classroom and behaviour management record. DBS disclosure is required, and the right to work in the UK must be held.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
• Experience teaching Science in secondary setting.
• Experience with Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4.

• Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

Job description

Grass Roots Academic Support is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Science Teacher / Secondary Science Teacher to join a successful secondary school in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for a Qualified Science Teacher or ECT to teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, engaging and motivating students while helping them achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Teaching in line with the National Curriculum and adapting lessons to individual students' abilities.
• Assessing student progress and setting appropriate targets for improvement.
• Using effective classroom and behaviour management strategies.
• Engaging and motivating students to achieve their full potential.
• Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and contributing to the wider school community.
• Supporting students to improve their academic achievement and develop their confidence in Science.

The role is a full time maternity cover contract starting in January 2027 with Teachers Main/Upper Pay Scale to be discussed. ECTs and experienced teachers are both encouraged to apply.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching Science within a secondary school setting.
• Experience teaching Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4.
• A proven teaching record and/or high-quality references.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• The ability to engage, motivate and inspire students.
• A good understanding of the National Curriculum.
• A current Enhanced DBS Disclosure, or willingness to complete a new DBS application where required.
• The right to work in the UK.
• A commitment to supporting students' academic and personal development.
