Job description
Overview

Woodbridge School, Location: Burkitt Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk IP12 4JJ. Salary: £24,610.37 per annum pro rata, actual salary £7,589.27 per annum. Hours: 14.5 hours per week, 2 days per week, 8.15am – 4.30pm. Contract: Permanent, required as soon as possible. Reference: 0466.

About The Role

As a Science Laboratory Technician, you will join the Science Department to support the Physics Department while collaborating with the wider science team. Your duties include preparing, setting up, and maintaining laboratory equipment and materials to support effective science lessons. You will assist teaching staff during practical sessions, ensuring experiments run smoothly and safely. You will provide technical advice and support to staff and students to enhance the learning experience. Maintaining clean, safe, and well-stocked laboratories will be a key part of your duties, along with managing the safe storage and disposal of chemicals and biological materials. A crucial aspect of the role is staying up to date with CLEAPSS guidance and Health and Safety regulations to ensure all practices meet current standards.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Strong science background, ideally with a minimum of an A-level qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with a proactive, flexible, and collaborative approach.
  • Solid understanding of CLEAPSS and current Health and Safety guidelines to ensure safe and compliant laboratory practices.
