Job summary

Horizons Alternative Provision Academy seeks a dedicated Driver to support safe, on-time transport of students to and from school and activities. You will assist with minibus maintenance, complete safety checks and maintain clear transport records.

The role requires a full UK driving licence, at least two years’ experience, and a strong safeguarding commitment. Term-time, part-time hours ensure a balance between work and study. Training and progression opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Holds a full UK driving licence with good driving record.
• Minimum two years driving experience.
• Strong commitment to safety and safeguarding.
• Organised, reliable and able to work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and off-site activities using school vehicles.
• Work with colleagues to plan journeys and ensure on-time completion.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report defects promptly.
• Maintain vehicles to high standards of cleanliness and roadworthiness.
• Keep accurate passenger registers and transport records.
• Communicate professionally with parents, carers and staff as required.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety policies and emergency procedures.
• Ensure compliance with road traffic laws and vehicle operating requirements.
• Promote positive behaviour and safe travel for students.
• Support MOT arrangements and servicing schedules.
