Job summary

A temporary staffing agency is seeking a reliable Science Technician for a school-based role in Leeds. The successful candidate will prepare materials for science lessons, maintain lab equipment, and uphold health and safety standards. Essential qualifications include an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, the right to work in the UK, and relevant documentation. The position is Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, starting on January 5, 2026, and ending on January 30, 2026.

Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required.
  • Right to work in the UK with National Insurance Number.
  • Valid photo ID and two references are required.

Responsibilities

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and organised Science Technician to provide temporary support within a school science department.

The role involves preparing materials for practical science lessons, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare equipment, materials, and chemicals for science lessons
  • Clean, store, and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Support teaching staff during practical experiments where required
  • Ensure laboratories are safe, clean, and compliant with health & safety standards
  • Manage stock levels and report shortages or issues
  • Dispose of waste safely in line with school and legal guidelines
Essential Requirements – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
  • ⚠️ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is REQUIRED
  • You MUST already hold an Enhanced DBS
  • The DBS MUST be registered on the Update Service
  • Applicants without this will NOT be considered
  • A DBS cannot be applied for through this role
  • This is a strict requirement due to the school environment.

  • Ability to start on 5th January 2026 and commit to the full duration
Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a laboratory environment preferred
