Job summary

Cover People are recruiting a dedicated School Administrator/Receptionist for a specialist school in Tameside. You will be the first point of contact for pupils, parents, visitors and staff, ensuring the reception runs smoothly and safely.

The role requires resilience and excellent communication in a busy SEMH setting. You will work Monday to Friday in a full-time capacity, with competitive daily pay and ongoing support from a dedicated consultant.

Qualifications

  • Prior school reception/administration experience is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Confident, organised and capable of managing a busy reception.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the busy school reception and be the first point of contact.
  • Welcome visitors, parents and pupils in a professional manner.
  • Handle phone calls, emails and general administrative tasks.
  • Remain calm and resilient when supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Use Arbor and CPOMS systems; experience preferred.
  • Chase invoices and dinner payments where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures.
  • Collaborate with teaching, pastoral and senior leadership teams.

School Administrator / Receptionist
Location: Hyde, Tameside
Pay Rate: £100 £130 per day DOE
Start Date: ASAP, covering a Maternity Leave.
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Do you have the confidence to work in a busy special needs school and remain calm when dealing with challenging behaviour?

Cover People are recruiting a dedicated School Receptionist for a specialist school in Tameside supporting children and young people with SEMH needs. You will be the first point of contact for pupils, parents, visitors and staff, helping to ensure the school reception runs smoothly and safely.

The Role:
  • Manage the busy school reception area and act as the first point of contact.
  • Welcome visitors, parents and pupils in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Handle phone calls, emails, messages and general administrative tasks.
  • Remain calm and resilient when supporting pupils displaying challenging behaviour in and around reception.
  • Use school systems such as Arbor and CPOMS, ideally with previous experience.
  • Chasing invoices, dinner payments etc.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding and school procedures.
  • Work closely with teaching, pastoral and senior leadership teams.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Previous school reception, administration or similar experience would be ideal.
  • Confident, organised and able to manage a busy reception environment.
  • Resilient and calm when dealing with challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience using Arbor and CPOMS is desirable.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with SEMH needs.
  • Professional, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
