Job description

We are working with a number of schools who are always looking for friendly and professional School Receptionists to join their dedicated administrative team.

This critical front-facing role supports the smooth running of the school andhelps create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for pupils, staff, parents, and visitors.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a friendly and professional reception service for all visitors, parents, and pupils
  • Manage the school’s main phone line and email inbox, directing queries appropriately
  • Ensure all visitors are signed in and out in accordance with safeguarding procedures
  • Maintain accurate pupil records and update the school’s MIS (e.g. SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom)
  • Support attendance monitoring and liaise with parents regarding absences and late arrivals
  • Handle incoming and outgoing post, deliveries, and general correspondence
  • Assist with pupil admissions, transfers, and leavers, ensuring all documentation is complete
  • Prepare letters, newsletters, and other school communications
  • Support the coordination of school events, meetings, and parent evenings
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Provide general administrative support to the Headteacher, SLT, and teaching staff
  • Liaise with external agencies, contractors, and local authorities as required
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role (school experience preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm and approachable manner
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable using databases
  • Experience with school MIS systems (e.g. SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom) is an advantage
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection in an educational setting
  • A team player with a flexible and proactive approach to work
