School Receptionist

You are the first voice and face of the school. You greet parents and visitors, manage calls and inboxes, and keep reception running smoothly. You support safeguarding, data handling, and daily admin.

Position Details
  • Permanent – Immediate start
  • Salary: £17,550 - £25,567 per annum
  • Location: Secondary School based in Edgbaston

All duties of a school receptionist, front of school.

Key Duties
  • Welcome visitors, check ID, issue badges, and keep accurate sign‑in records.
  • Answer calls, triage queries, and route messages quickly and politely.
  • Monitor the reception inbox and draft clear, professional replies.
  • Log and escalate safeguarding concerns to the DSL. Follow school procedures.
  • Handle pupil and parent data in line with UK GDPR and school policy. Maintain confidentiality.
  • Use MIS and communication tools to update records and send messages, for example SIMS or Arbor.
  • Organise post, deliveries, room bookings, diaries, and visitor schedules.
  • Support first aid and pupil welfare where required. Contact parents as needed.
About You
  • Warm, chatty, and professional with parents and carers.
  • Strong phone manner. Clear written English. Calm under pressure.
  • Organised, reliable, quick to prioritise and follow through.
  • Discreet with sensitive information. Understands safeguarding and GDPR basics.
  • Confident with Microsoft Office and school MIS, or quick to learn.
Experience
  • Front‑of‑house or customer service in a busy setting.
  • School office or education admin is helpful, not essential.
  • First aid training is helpful. We support training if needed.
