Job description

The School Programme Practitioner will support the delivery of the FBB Schools Programme in partner Secondary Schools across The West Midlands. This will involve supporting the delivery of programmes across up to 4 schools. The person will be based in schools facilitating FBB sessions and supporting FBB participants outside of sessions with additional pastoral support including 1:1s and parental engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the delivery of up to 5 FBB Schools programmes at partner schools, managing a caseload of about 80 students; deliver FBB sessions and provide additional pastoral support (1:1s, parental engagement, collaboration with school staff).
  • Lead on the ongoing evaluation and monitoring of individual sessions, participant performance, and programme outcomes.
  • Track, draft and submit progress reports on the students in your FBB Schools programmes.
  • Build relationships with partner teachers, Senior Leadership Team members at partner schools, and participants' parents.
  • Work closely with our specialist therapeutic team to design and develop specific interventions for at‑risk students on your programme.
Key Aspects of the FBB Schools Programme
  • Classroom: A football‑themed curriculum that creates transformative learning experiences and develops key social and emotional competencies through project‑based learning sessions in partnership with external partners such as Nike, Gillette and the FA, culminating in a public showcase.
  • Pitch: A constraints‑led, game‑based football coaching curriculum that teaches students to overcome challenges, learn from mistakes, support teammates, and develop social and emotional competencies.
  • Trips: Visits and end‑of‑year tours around exciting events featuring inspiring people from football and media, broadening horizons and fostering positive habits.
  • Interventions: Weekly one‑to‑one sessions for the most at‑risk students to work through traumatic experiences contributing to challenging behaviour, plus parental engagement and broader school‑life support.

  • Experience delivering sessions to 10‑16 year olds.
  • Enjoys working in a team and has excellent interpersonal skills, empathy and emotional intelligence.

  • Understanding of adolescent challenges and diverse learning needs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with young people based on their assets and passions.
  • Can problem‑solve independently and adapt to new situations.
  • Keen to learn, develop, and embrace feedback.
  • Preferred: experience working in schools supporting young people, QTS, qualifications in counselling/mental health, experience delivering interventions to youth with SEN or SEMH.
