Job summary

Harris Federation is seeking a proactive Premises Officer to ensure our site remains safe, secure and well maintained for staff, students and visitors.

You will maintain security, carry out general maintenance, liaise with contractors and keep welfare facilities stocked and compliant.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school or educational setting.
• Strong health and safety knowledge.
• Maintenance, repairs and grounds maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of site security systems and premises management.
• Experience supervising contractors and monitoring works on site.
• Strong DIY and general maintenance skills.
• Understanding cleaning standards and site presentation.
• Ability to identify and coordinate maintenance issues and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, secure and compliant environment.
• Provide site security, including opening, closing and monitoring access.
• Carry out general maintenance, repairs and decorating to high standards.
• Liaise with and supervise contractors to ensure safe, effective work.
• Maintain site grounds, keeping external areas tidy and litter-free.
• Monitor welfare facilities and replenish supplies as required.
• Conduct regular site inspections and address safety issues promptly.
• Set up and clear furniture/equipment for events and meetings.
• Report maintenance issues to the Operations Manager.
• Identify, mitigate and escalate health and safety risks as appropriate.
• Respond to accidents and spills, ensuring areas are safe.
• Maintain records using EVRY and assist the wider operations team.
• Provide occasional support across other Harris sites when needed.
