Job description
Full-Time School Nurse (Learning Disability/Paediatric)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00-16:00 or 8:30-16:30
Location: Specialist educational and residential setting (ages 8-19)

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join a specialist educational and residential setting that supports young people aged 8-19 with severe and complex learning disabilities and autism.

This is a rewarding full-time role, ideal for someone confident in managing medical records, communicating with healthcare professionals, and supporting the ongoing health and wellbeing of children and young people in a residential setting.

You must be confident in:
  • Using and maintaining MAR charts

  • Logging clinical notes accurately

  • Tracking medication and liaising with pharmacies

  • Communicating effectively with healthcare professionals

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accompanying and supporting children during medical appointments and procedures in the community

  • Monitoring and assessing children's health, emotional wellbeing, and development

  • Liaising with parents and carers about health-related matters

  • Delivering and contributing to staff training (e.medication administration, epilepsy care, and risk assessments)

  • Providing first aid and managing minor injuries

  • Ordering, receiving, and managing medications

  • Preparing written health reports and attending review meetings

  • Supporting the development of the healthcare team while maintaining your own CPD

Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse (Paediatric or Learning Disability) with valid NMC registration

  • Experience in working with children or young people with complex needs

  • Confident, professional communication skills

  • Highly organised, motivated, and flexible approach

  • Commitment to safeguarding and high standards of care
