Job description

Avon Valley Academy is looking to appoint a confident and reliable Driver to cover afternoon minibus transport for its students, starting January 2026. This is a fantastic, part‑time, opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff that encourages all students to have high self‑worth and love coming to school.

Working Hours: Part time (5 hours per week, Monday to Friday-term time only, 38 weeks per year, no Teacher Training Days). Usual working hours will be 2.40pm until 3.40pm. Contract: Fixed term (until 22nd July 2026). Required: January 2026.

The successful candidate will have a full, clean driving license, be organised and consistent, and have a solid understanding of Health and Safety requirements. Previous experience in a similar driving role is desirable.

We are looking for someone who :
  • Holds a full, clean driving licence and is prepared to drive a minibus;
  • Has strong interpersonal and communications skills and can liaise effectively with school staff and pupils;
  • Has a can‑do attitude with excellent practical and organisational skills;
  • Can prioritise and schedule effectively and efficiently;
  • Is self‑motivated, dedicated and consistent;
  • Is a strong team player who can use their own initiative;
  • Is aware of health and safety requirements;
  • Has previous experience in a similar role (desirable).
