Job summary

Sodexo Ltd. is seeking a school catering operative at Nishkam School West London. You will support the Cook Manager in day-to-day kitchen operations, preparing and serving meals to high standards for pupils, with focus on safety, hygiene and efficient service.

You will supervise staff, provide on-the-job training, and help keep equipment, supplies and space clean and compliant with HACCP and COSHH rules, while maintaining a positive team environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a catering qualification – 7061, 7062, or NVQ Level 1/2 (or equivalent).
• Minimum 1 year’s hands-on cooking experience in a busy catering or kitchen.
• Experience cooking for large numbers (up to 1,300 students).
• Food Hygiene and Health & Safety training will be provided where required.
• Experience working with fresh produce and quality ingredients.

Responsibilities

• Support the Cook Manager with day-to-day running and supervision of the school kitchen and catering operation.
• Prepare, cook, present, and serve food to company standards (breakfast, morning break, lunch, and hospitality services).
• Supervise and support catering staff to maintain high standards.
• Provide on-the-job training and guidance to staff.
• Ensure all food is prepared and presented to company standards and displayed attractively.
• Ensure each dish is portioned correctly and in line with business requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and overall presentation of the kitchen.
• Adhere to Food Safety, Health & Safety, Allergen Awareness, COSHH, and HACCP regulations.
