Job summary

Halcyon London International School is recruiting a General Kitchen Assistant to join the busy catering team in Westminster. The role centers on vegetable preparation and general kitchen support under the Catering Manager, with an emphasis on maintaining high hygiene standards.

The successful candidate will have experience in catering within an educational setting, GCSE or equivalent qualifications, and a commitment to Halcyon’s IB-aligned environment.

Qualifications

• GCSE or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience in Catering / Kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations relevant to kitchens and schools.
• Understanding of basic weights and measures in cooking/portion control.
• Attention to detail in food prep and hygiene.
• Good time management and ability to multitask in a busy setting.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cutting a variety of vegetables to required sizes and styles.
• Following instructions from the kitchen team throughout the shift.
• Supporting basic food preparation tasks when needed.
• Assist in the dining hall during the lunch period, helping to organise the dining area appropriately.
• To collect used dishes and kitchen items to the wash room.
• Maintain cleanliness of food prep and dining areas to HACCP standards.
