School Healthcare Assistant

Location: Tonbridge and Sevenoaks, Kent
Contract: Term-time only, 37 hours per week (8-4, early finish on Fridays)
Salary: Actual salary £20,012 - £22,892 (FTE £25,252 - £26,262)
Start date: ASAP
Contract type: Permanent

We're working with a highly successful and inclusive grammar school in West Kent to appoint a dedicated School Healthcare Assistant. This is a key pastoral role, supporting the health and wellbeing of pupils across two campuses. The School Healthcare Assistant will work closely with the School Nurse and wider Student Support team to provide first aid, administer medication, and assist students with long-term or complex medical needs including diabetes, asthma and epilepsy. You'll also help deliver mental health support and triage, liaise with parents, and assist with health-related admin and procedures. This role would suit someone with a background in healthcare, first aid, or school-based pastoral care. You'll need to be calm under pressure, discreet, organised, and confident working independently when needed.

Person Specification – What we’re looking for
  • Previous experience in a healthcare, nursing or school-based support role
  • A valid First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Confident managing medical conditions such as asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, and allergies
  • A calm and reassuring manner with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and prioritise competing demands in a busy environment
  • Comfortable working across two school sites (Tonbridge and Sevenoaks)
  • Awareness of safeguarding and a commitment to pupil wellbeing
