Job summary

Chartwells Independents in London is seeking a Head Chef to lead food production across multiple outlets in a busy school catering environment. You will plan, direct and oversee preparation, ensuring high quality and consistency, while driving sales through menus and promotions.

You will manage a team, control costs, monitor food safety and build strong supplier relationships. The role offers a competitive salary, pension and development opportunities within Compass.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of a range of food and catering services across a number of outlets in a complex, busy and multi-facetted environment
• Plan, organise and direct the preparation and cooking of food ensuring quality is maintained with customers and clients at all times
• Take responsibility for the food production with a hands-on approach
• Drive sales through centrally driven menu planning and promotions and preferred suppliers
• Responsible for all aspects of food safety, HSE and COSHH
• Implement and maintain food monitoring procedures to facilitate budgetary control and monitor all costs involved in the kitchen against budgets
• Maintain excellent and innovative culinary and presentation skills
• Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Be energetic with a passion to do a great job
• Manage staff in a calm, inspirational manner

• The Head Chef will also be required to implement and maintain food monitoring procedures to facilitate budgetary control and to monitor all costs involved in the kitchen against agreed budgets.
