Job summary

Bolton School is seeking a practical Grounds Person to join the Operational Services team in maintaining extensive grounds, sports pitches and outdoor areas to a high standard. You will support the Grounds Supervisor in daily maintenance of hard and soft surfaces, lawns, verges and facilities, ensuring safe, clean and presentable surroundings for pupils and staff.

The role involves hands-on work with grounds machinery, seasonal tasks and safety-focused duties.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, sports pitch maintenance or a similar outdoor environment.
• Willingness to undertake training and develop knowledge of grounds machinery.
• Good understanding of safety and maintaining a safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds, lawns, verges, hedgerows, fences and pathways to a high standard.
• Assist with erection, dismantling, storage and maintenance of sports pitch equipment.
• Keep drains and areas clear, help with salting roads and paths in winter.
• Undertake routine safety checks and report issues to Grounds Supervisor.
• Operate and maintain grounds machinery safely and in line with procedures.
