Job summary

Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust is seeking a committed Trust Sites and Estates Officer to support safe, compliant and well‑maintained school environments across the trust, with a base at St Peter’s CE Primary School in Harrogate and travel to other sites. The role is full time with flexibly deployed hours across multiple schools; mileage is reimbursed, and there may be some holiday working by agreement.

Qualifications

• Practical experience of caretaking, facilities, building maintenance or a comparable role.
• Good DIY, decorating and minor‑repair skills.
• Organised and reliable, able to work independently.
• Judgement to recognise when work requires a qualified contractor or support from the Trust Estates Lead.
• Ability to co‑ordinate work, check standards and communicate effectively.
• Confidence using email and online systems to maintain accurate records.
• Sound awareness of health and safety and safeguarding requirements.
• A full driving licence and ability to travel independently between Trust sites.

Responsibilities

• Opening, closing and securing school premises.
• Routine site inspections, maintenance, decorating and minor repairs.
• Completing and recording statutory premises checks for compliance.
• Monitoring building systems and reporting faults; coordinating caretaking and cleaning activities.
• Supporting premises work schedules, quotations and contractor visits.
• Managing deliveries, porterage and room setup.
• Keeping external areas safe, clean and accessible.
• Responding to operational issues and emergency callouts.
