Job summary

Chartwells, part of Compass Group UK&I, is seeking a dedicated Driver on a part-time basis (5 hours per week) to support services delivering to local health service premises. The role requires a clean CPC licence with the 101 restriction removed and a full UK driving licence; no provisional licences accepted.

You will perform daily vehicle checks, maintain cleanliness, handle confidential patient information, and follow health & safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • A clean CPC licence with the 101 restriction removed.
  • A full clean UK driving licence (provisional licence not accepted).
  • Passionate about customer care and able to communicate with patients and staff.
  • Able to work under pressure, individually and in a team with flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively participate in a team of drivers supplying a service to local health service premises.
  • Observe regulations governing driving and vehicle use on the public highway and health & safety at work.
  • Undertake daily vehicle checks and report defects or accidents immediately.
  • Maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.
  • Observe confidentiality regarding Trust and patient information at all times.
  • Sort and deliver mail, specimens, blood, pharmacy, food, CSSD and other items as required.
  • Communicate with terminally ill or distressed patients in their homes with care.
  • Deliver, erect and install equipment in patients' homes and demonstrate usage.
  • Follow pre-set schedules and prioritise urgent requests for blood, drugs, records and other items.
  • Represent and promote the professional image of the Trust to service users and the public.

We're currently recruiting a dedicated Driver to help ensure the smooth running of the operations in Chartwells on a part time basis, contracted to 5 hours per week. As a Driver, you will use your skills to maintain a high standard of quality work. Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
  • Effectively participate in a team of drivers supplying a service to local health service premises.
  • Observe all regulations governing the driving and use of vehicles on the public highway and to be aware of all employee responsibilities under Health & Safety at work legalisation.
  • Undertake daily checks as are reasonable to ensure that the vehicle to be driven complies with legal requirements and is in good running order. Report any defects or accidents, which may occur immediately.
  • Maintain both the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.
  • Observe confidentiality in respect of Trust and patient information at all times.
  • Undertake accurate and timely sorting of mail, collection and delivery of specimens, blood, pharmacy, food, CSSD and any other items required.
  • Communicate caringly with terminally ill, physically handicapped and recently bereaved people in their own homes.
  • Deliver, erect and install expensive and delicate equipment in patient’s homes and demonstrate how to use, including bath hoists and medical devices.
  • Work to pre set schedules, understand and prioritise urgent requests for blood, drugs, medical records and any other items requested by the service users.
  • Represent and promote the professional image of the Trust to service users and the public.
Our Ideal Driver Will
  • A clean CPC licence with the 101 restriction removed
  • A full clean UK driving licence (provisional licence not accepted)
  • Passionate about customer care, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and healthcare staff.
  • Able to work under pressure, individually and as part of a team with a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business.
  • Confident working in a hospital environment and aware at times you willmeetpatients that are particularly unwell or showing signs of distress.
  • A can-do attitude, with awillingness to learn and go the extra mile for our customers.
  • This position is subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service check; costs met by the employer.
