Job summary

Andover Public Schools seeks a reliable Junior Custodian for High Plain Elementary School to maintain a clean, safe environment. Duties include cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms and common areas, performing light maintenance, and assisting with mail delivery and errands.

The role requires physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds, climb heights, and operate cleaning equipment. Previous custodial experience is preferred, with relevant licenses as applicable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of materials, methods and techniques of the trade.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to do arithmetic computations (whole numbers and fractions).
• Ability to lift 25–60 pounds and climb up to 50 feet.
• Basic understanding of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned schools, offices, rooms, halls, cafeterias, washrooms and other areas.
• Wash walls, sweep, scrub and mop floors; vacuum and clean fixtures.
• Collect, remove and dispose of waste and maintain supplies.
• Replenish and monitor inventory of paper, soap, towels and cleaners.
• Shovel snow, spread ice melt and assist with grounds upkeep.
• Deliver mail and assist with errands as needed.
• Perform basic repairs and maintenance and operate related equipment.
• Respond to emergencies and provide backup coverage as required.
